Shed hunting in Nebraska
Finding sheds in the Nebraska Sandhills
This is the time of year all the shed hunters look forward to. The mule deer as well as the whitetail are shedding their antlers, and with this last snow storm, they are shedding them fast. I get asked a lot about where is the best place to find mule deer sheds and the answer is obviously by the major food sources. Along fencelines is another place to find a few sheds dropped by the bucks that jump over the fence. Once the grass greens up then the bucks seem to spread out chasing the lush first green of the spring. Then the shed hunting gets a lot harder as they can drop anywhere. On the top of the hills in the bowels seems to be where the first grass starts to grow and draw the bucks in. Coyotes and other animals also will pickup antlers and run around with them and you will find sheds in random spots. Take the family shed hunting and enjoy the outdoors of Nebraska in the Sandhills. Best of luck shed hunting!!!!
