Deer season ends in an all-time high
With deer season over the focus changes to coyotes
With the Nebraska deer season almost over , the focus turns to controlling the coyote population. The coyote numbers are at an all-time high in the western sandhills of Nebraska, and that leads to a lot of time in the field with your favorite call or devise to call in those crafty coyotes. Not only do the coyotes target mice and rabbits but they also do the deer population a huge hurt by chasing the deer, constantly hunting the deer and stressing the deer also. People don't think about coyotes bothering the deer but already to date this winter we have lost a handful of deer to coyotes. The prize buck that you let go for the past couple years is being hunted by coyotes for food. The bucks are run down now due to the rut and they are an easy catch for a pack of coyotes. Coyotes will hunt full grown mature deer in the winter when hungry and will consume the whole deer in one night. This time of year the coyotes are running together to be a more effective hunting tool to capture their prey. Get outside and sharpen your hunting and shooting skills and there is no better target than the smart old coyote. Do your deer herd a favor and take your hunting buddies out hunting coyotes today, it's fun, inexpensive , and there are lots to choose from. Merry Christmas everyone and happy hunting!!!
