Nebraska Big game hunting
Questions asked about public hunting ground

As a Nebraska outfitter, I get asked all the time about public land hunting. In Nebraska, outfitters are not allowed to guide on state land, and as such we don't have any idea about what area has what animals. I have received quite a few calls about where they could go to hunt a nice respectable mule, or whitetail deer. I even had a couple nonresident hunters that came from out of state to hunt Nebraska since it has over the counter tags. Please do your research before planning your hunting trip and this will add to your chances of being successful. As with most public hunting ground there are always areas that are hunted harder than other areas. A lot of public ground is walk in only. So be prepared to put some miles on the boots and always have a plan to get your harvest out and back to the vehicle. You are not allowed to just drive around public ground and not have to walk. The later the season the more chance there is that the game will be a little spooky. My advice is to plan ahead and checkout the areas for hunting pressure, accessability, lodging, and huntable acres. A little time on the laptop could save you a lot of miles on the boots.Best of luck hunting and you can always call your Nebraska Game and Parks for more information on public land hunting.
